Tucson’s casino landscape is about to get a major new addition. Casino Del Sol, Vahi Taa’am, is scheduled to open November 15, bringing a full-scale gaming and entertainment destination to West Grant Road near Interstate 10.
The Pascua Yaqui Tribe-owned property will be the Tribe’s third gaming location in Southern Arizona and its first casino within Tucson city limits. Vahi Taa’am means “Three Suns” in Yoeme, the language of the Pascua Yaqui people. The name reflects the project’s connection to the Old Pascua community and the Tribe’s broader investment in the region.
The new location is expected to cover roughly 163,000 square feet, including a gaming floor of more than 52,000 square feet. Plans call for 924 slot machines, 56 high-limit games, table games, a high-limit lounge, bar-top gaming, and a SolSports sportsbook. The project is also expected to create about 500 jobs across hospitality, gaming, food service, security, and administration.
For Tucson visitors and local players, the opening means another nearby place to play without making the drive to larger casino properties in Phoenix. It also adds a new stop for people who want gaming paired with dining, sports viewing, and a more complete night-out experience.
Local Casinos
Casino Del Sol, Vahi Taa’am will join the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s existing Casino Del Sol Resort on Valencia Road and Casino of the Sun. The flagship Casino Del Sol Resort remains a larger resort-style destination, with more than 1,300 slot machines, dining, hotel accommodations, golf, a spa, and the AVA Amphitheater. Vahi Taa’am is positioned differently: it gives Tucson a more centrally located gaming option with direct access from I-10.
The new property will include OP Grill, an upscale casual restaurant focused on local flavors, along with Sewa Market, which will bring together familiar Casino Del Sol food concepts. Three bars, including the Center Bar and High Limit Bar, are also planned. A four-level parking garage will offer more than 1,200 spaces.
Arizona’s local casinos are largely built around tribal gaming facilities. The Arizona Department of Gaming oversees state gaming functions and works alongside tribal governments under tribal-state compacts, while Arizona law separately provides for regulated event wagering.
Offshore Casino Games
That lack of a locally regulated online casino market is why some Arizona players look to offshore casinos for online slots, blackjack, roulette, live dealer games, and specialty titles. Players considering offshore casino games should take a practical approach before depositing money. Look for a clearly identified gaming license, readable bonus terms, transparent withdrawal limits, secure banking methods, game-provider information, and accessible customer support.
Tucson’s new Casino Del Sol location will give residents another in-person choice when it opens in November. For players who prefer online casino games, the distinction remains important: Arizona-regulated sports betting, tribal casino gaming, and offshore casino platforms are separate markets with different oversight, rules, and consumer protections.
